Beta-cryptoxanthin
Type: Carotenoid
Beta-cryptoxanthin is a carotenoid that helps to decrease risk of cancers and degenerative diseases. High in antioxidants and related to vitamin A, foods rich in beta-cryptoxanthin include squashes, peppers, oranges and papayas.
Studies show that Beta-cryptoxanthin can lower the risk of certain cancers, including lung, colon, gastric and liver cancer. As an antioxidant, Beta-cryptoxanthin also defends against the major cause of cell degeneration - oxidative stress.
