Stearic Acid
Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid and precursor of oleic acid, a fatty acid found in olive oil. It is a GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe) and FDA-approved additive.
During the manufacturing of tablets and capsules, stearic acid is used as an emulsifying agent, solubilizing agent, tablet and capsule lubricant. Stearic acid is also naturally found in common natural food sources such as meat, coconut oil and chocolate (cocoa butter).
