Yerba Mate
Latin Name: llex Paraguariensis
Yerba mate is a traditional South American brew that is made from the leaves of Ilex paraguariensis plant. It is mainly beneficial for those suffering from chronic fatigue and wish to improve sport performance.
Yerba mate started to gain popularity in recent years as it provides similar stimulative effects to that of coffee. Yerba mate tea has an average of 78mg of caffeine per 150ml. Its caffeine content is similar to coffee. Hence It is used to boost energy level and mental function. However, some claims that they do not experience the undesired effects of coffee, such as jittery and sleep interference.
It was also found that yerba mate may help promote weight loss by raising metabolism rate, suppressing appetite and increasing the number of fat cells burned for energy. As it also contains several plant compounds that have antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties, yerba mate is believed to promote immune health, protect against common infections and keep our heart healthy.
