Walnut is a type of nutrient-dense nut filled with essential omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants that can protect the brain and heart cells.
1. Lower "bad" LDL cholesterol levels
Compared to any other common nut, Walnuts have the greatest antioxidant activity, along with Vitamin E, Melatonin and polyphenols. Studies show that eating walnuts can reduce bad "LDL" cholesterol levels, thus improving cardiovascular health.
2. Great source of Omega-3s
Walnuts have significantly higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid) than other nuts. ALA can lower risk of heart disease and arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).
